Cost of Ownership

The cost of ownership of a freeze drying system depends on power costs, refrigeration cooling water costs [maintenance of water quality, or cost of city water], maintenance contract costs, cost of LN2 if that is the refrigerating source, rental of LN2 storage, local labor rates, routine and emergency maintenance costs as well as costs of utilities such as clean steam, water for cleaning in place, gas supply for vacuum release [air or inert gases], amortization, cost of spare parts, and software update cost.  These costs also depend upon cycle length, the shorter the cycle the lower the cost per cycle.  Other costs are associated with maintenance of documentation, validation, and routine calibration.  One may wish also to include the cost for maintenance of clean room conditions inside the clean loading area.
